Geography, soil and climate

This directorate is located in Khajura, Janki Rural Municipality, Ward No. 4, Banke District, Lumbini Province. Geographically it is located at 81o 37'' East Longitude and 28o 06'' North Latitude at an altitude of 181 meters above mean sea level. Average annual rainfall in this directorate is measured at 1000 to 1500 mm. However, annual crops sometimes fail in the region due to the late onset and early termination of the regular monsoons in the region. The highest and lowest temperatures here are measured at 46oC and 5.4oC respectively while the relative humidity is found to be between 27 and 94%. Humidity is low here most of the year. The soil texture of the Directorate is sandy to silty loam, soil organic carbon and available nitrogen are low, potash and phosphorus availability is moderate and pH is 7.2 to 7.5.
